New Threaded Shank Tooling
Alvord-Polk Tool now offers standard Threaded Shank Reamers for Aircraft manufacturing and repair. Both long and short series are available in High Speed Steel and Cobalt. Carbide will also be available in January of 2008. The product line features High Speed Steel adapter shanks that are heat treated and drawn back to a minimum of Rc of 25. The reamer shanks are brazed onto the body of the tool with silver solder. This method of assembly allows subsequent operations to use the original reamer centers thereby achieving excellent final tool concentricity. Maintaining precision center holes in each end of the reamer allows us to do all subsequent grinding operations between centers. The reamer body, pilot diameter, threads, and the seating angle are all ground concentrically to the horizontal axis created by the center holes. The centers also provide the ability to precisely re-sharpen, reduce diameter, or add/modify pilots as needed. The intended value to you is to provide consistent concentric performance from our threaded shank reamers. Alvord-Polk reamers continue to meet NAS 897 requirements for quality. We now keep semi-finished inventory of these tools on hand for your immediate requirements.
