Supeream To Debut in January 2008
Alvord-Polk Tool plans to launch the Supeream replaceable head reamer system in early January 2008. The plans for this replaceable head system have been in the works for several years with several different prototypes produced and refined to what is finally in production today. Two different head styles will be available. One of the head configurations will be manufactured in high speed steel and the other will be manufactured as a carbide tipped head. Both interchangeable heads will work with the same precision ground shank system. The shank system is unique in the fact it still works from centers that will allow the heads to be re-sharpened and/or modified by the user. The head is threaded onto the shank and eliminates “play” as was commonly seen in the old shell style reamers. A set screw is used to secure the head onto the shank and wrench flats are used to tighten the head on to the precise seating angle of the shank. Another unique feature to the shank is the reduced back portion of the shank that allows for “slide through” colleting to work in tight areas. The size availability for this system is .7500 to 1.5000.
